Although most schools probably have a robust email contact system in place by now (we use Mail Chimp), you might not have individual email lists for each teacher and classroom. Most teachers just manually collect email addresses at their “Meet the Teacher” info night and set up their own system.
Well Remind101 ($Free) is a nice little app that will help you safely and securely contact parents or students.
Having a group email list on my iPad is a real time saver. I can type a few letters of our school name in the “To:” files of my email and quickly get a list of groups I have created so I can send an email to a bunch of people at once. The initial set up of this is kinda confusing but pay attention and I'll walk you through it. Once it's done, however, you can easily edit it to keep it up to date and you can quickly share it. Do it once and it works for everyone. For large lists you'll want a computer with MS Word or Apple Pages installed.
So, it's hard to see in the pic but in a new message I have typed the first few letters of my school name and I already see “SCHOOL All & SCHOOL Teachers”. One is everyone that works at the school and one is just the teachers at the school. Creating the list is either super easy and fast or time consuming depending on your IT person. Continue reading

Setting Up an eMail Account
Before your student even walks into school on the first day, they should have an email address and an AppleID already set up. This will make it much easier for them to set up their school-issued iPad and will reduce the amount of class time spent on the setup process.
Setting Up a Free Email Address
Although parents are welcome to set up an email account for their child with any provider they want, the school highly recommends using Gmail (http://www.gmail.com/) for your free account. Gmail has basically unlimited space, plenty of great features, and can be synced to an iPad with almost no hassle. Please follow these steps to set up your free account for your student:
Go to http://www.gmail.com and click “CREATE AN ACCOUNT” in the top right corner.
